Maeng Da Kratom: Info, Dosage, & Effects

Whether you’re a seasoned Kratom connoisseur or you’re just doing preliminary research, you’ve no doubt heard of Maeng Da Kratom. As an all-time favorite of customers around the world, this strain of Kratom has quite the following. But, Maeng Da Kratom isn’t actually a strain itself… so what’s all the hype? What does Maeng Da mean? We’re getting into all the details below.

Maeng da Kratom has effects that are relaxing, pain relieving, mood enhancing, and stimulating to various levels.

What Is Maeng Da Kratom?

Maeng Da Kratom is a type of kratom that is new on the market in the last decade or so. Its booming popularity is due in part to its stout alkaloid profile; Maeng Da kratom strains typically have elevated levels of kratom’s active alkaloids. In other words, these strains have more of the compounds that work to fight pain and fatigue.

Indonesian farmers bred Maeng Da Kratom strains specifically to keep their pain-relieving properties while decreasing their sedative effects. This happened through a process called grafting, where tissues of different plants are joined together to create a new plant with some of the properties of each. Today, the perfected plants grow freely throughout Southeast Asia.

What Does Maeng Da Mean?

In Thai, Maeng Da translates to “pimp,” or “pimp grade.” While this is a derogatory term in Southeast Asia, the name has been part of its success in Western culture. Here, Maeng Da, or pimp grade, refers to the highest quality — the best. Whenever you see a strain labeled as Maeng Da Kratom, you can be sure you’re getting a potent product.

What Are the Effects?

Since Maeng Da Kratom is so potent, its effects are generally more robust than traditional mitragyna speciosa, too. Remember, farmers bred this type of kratom specifically for these effects. Mainly, Maeng Da aims to offer pain relief, mood-boosting, and a kick of energy, without the sedative effects that some other strong strains are known to have.

Remember that we said Maeng Da isn’t a strain, though? This is because Maeng Da still comes in different colors, and those are the strains themselves. Kratom colors are a result of the leaves of the kratom tree being picked for drying and production at different stages of maturity. Generally, white strains are from immature trees, red strains are from fully mature trees, and greens are somewhere in the middle. Maeng Da’s effects will vary by vein color and are dose-dependant, as well.

Strains

Like with most kratom strains, Maeng Da comes as White Maeng Da, Green Maeng Da, and Red Maeng Da. The white vein will offer the most energy of the three, the red vein will offer the most pain relief of the three, and the green vein strikes a balance somewhere in the middle.

While most red strains are generally on the sedative side, red Maeng Da veers off course, here. Higher doses could still trigger lethargy, but Maeng Da was specifically bred to have a much lighter sedative effect, regardless of color.

The vein color of the strain isn’t all that matters, though. Maeng Da effects are also dose-dependant.

Dosage

As always, we urge our customers to start small! To find the perfect Maeng Da dose for you, we recommend starting with no more than 2 grams. From there, you can record your experiences, and adjust your dose as needed.

Smaller doses will lean on the side of energy-boosting, and larger doses will lean on the side of pain relief. But remember, these strains are potent! A little goes a long way. Take your time to find the dose that strikes the perfect balance for you!

Maeng Da Kratom Conclusion

Maeng Da Kratom is a great option for those searching for a more potent kratom, or even for those who would just like to take a smaller dose. Switching from a less potent strain to Maeng Da could reduce the amount you need to feel your desired effects.
