A lot of things are changing lately in the herbal wellness landscape, and there is some understandable confusion. What the heck actually is CBD? Is CBD weed? The short answer: no, CBD is not weed, marijuana, THC, reefer, or anything else that will get you ‘high.’ CBD is simply a highly safe and effective natural remedy to treat chronic pain, anxiety, and more.

Is CBD Weed?
Is CBD weed? Simply put: no! CBD is not weed. Weed, pot, reefer, or whatever you want to call it, is a plant formally called cannabis; CBD is a compound formally called cannabidiol. Now for the tricky part: CBD is a compound that is found in the cannabis plant.
So, CBD is derived from cannabis. However, CBD does not get you high. Legally, CBD products have to be less than 0.3% THC (the part of cannabis that gets you high.) If you have worries about trying a CBD products because of legality or social stigmas, don’t fret; here at Kratom Capital we only sell absolute 0.0% THC CBD products. That means you can take advantage of CBD’s benefits without any worry.
What’s the Difference between CBD and THC?
Now that we’ve answered “is CBD weed?,” let’s look at what the difference actually is between CBD and THC. Both of these compounds are cannabinoids that are found in the cannabis plant. However, they have very different properties. THC is a psychoactive compound, meaning it affects your brain and gives you the ‘high’ associated with marijuana. CBD, on the other hand, is not psychoactive in any way. So, CBD on its own will not have any intoxicating side effects.
Hemp Derived CBD vs Marijuana Derived CBD
What about where the CBD comes from? Hemp production is on the rise in America, and marijuana laws are changing rapidly around the country. Scientifically, hemp and marijuana are both the same plant called cannabis. However, legally, hemp is a cannabis plant containing less than 0.3% THC. While full THC marijuana plants are still federally illegal. Hemp plants, which have very little to no THC in them, have much higher concentrations of CBD. Marijuana plants have the opposite, containing much higher levels of THC and smaller concentrations of CBD.
Even though hemp plants and marijuana plants have different concentrations of these compounds, the compounds themselves are still the same. THC is THC. CBD is CBD. So, regardless of whether or not your CBD product is derived from a hemp or marijuana plant, it will be the same CBD. And remember, legally, it cannot be a CBD product with over 0.3% THC in it, even if it is a marijuana derived CBD product.
Is CBD Weed Conclusion
CBD is most definitely not weed, nor will it give you the psychoactive effects of marijuana. However, with CBD you can still get all of the great benefits without the high.
