In people without insomnia, high levels of cortisol at night is associated with increased nighttime awakenings. This particular study found that cortisol levels decreased significantly after participants were administered CBD. This suggests that CBD can effect the release of cortisol, possibly acting as a sedative.
The Right Dose of CBD for Sleep
Many people have found CBD for sleep to be the cure for their nighttime woes, but how much CBD different people take to get some shut eye varies. If you’re new to taking CBD, start slowly. Starting with smaller doses and working up to a dose that works for you is recommended. Though larger doses are found to be the most effective for sleeping, going overboard on the CBD initially could cause you some discomfort. So, work your way up until you find the dose that works for you.
